Detachment Newsletter - Monday, December 2, 2002 |
|
On behalf of the staff of our Marine Corps League, I want to wish you a joyous New Year and Merry Christmas with great joy. Our Party will be held Monday, December 16 at 1800. I know everyone cannot come due to circumstances beyond our control but hope those of you that are able and willing will show up. We had a great time last year with good food and a camaraderie of friends. There will be a box at the door for any canned foods you may donate so that we can assist with giving for the needy at Christmas. This affair will again be a "POT-LUCK" dinner so please bring a dish of some sort.
On December 18, I am asking you and your s to meet at
the VFW at 1800 with a small bag of fruit that we may visit the assisted
living home in our neighborhood. These elderly subjects have no one left
and no way of getting out anywhere. They enjoy visits from us at Christmas
time. Our own ladies of our MCL Auxiliary and VFW members are going to
participate in this with us so please come out and show your support. |

Commanding Officer, Carl Shultz Executive Officer, George Martin 443-822-3597 A recruiting drive will
be held at the Navy Lodge located at the North Severn grounds of the Naval
Academy off Route 648, Baltimore Annapolis Blvd., near the commissary.
Young men and women between the ages of 8 and 18 years of age are
encouraged to enlist in this elite organization. Applications will be
taken on December 14, Saturday from 1000 to 1400. Further information will
be given at time of enrollment. This would make a great Christmas present
to a daughter, grandchild, niece, nephew, son or any other young person
you cannot decide on a present for them. |
|
Have you thought of becoming a life member in this
prestigious organization?? No more thoughts of having to send your dues in
yearly. Attention wives, girlfriends, this would make a great Christmas
present for your loved one. It is very inexpensive. You get a nice metal
gold colored membership card fully engraved. How about that son, daughter
or grandchild now serving on active duty in the US or abroad. I know they
would welcome a membership in our organization as a Christmas present.
They would receive our monthly newsletter, our quarterly League magazine
and membership card. Just $25.00 per year would not only be affordable but
think of the great feeling they would get receiving something different.
Call me. Don't wait any longer. |

Got a service you would like to sell??? Plumbing, roofing, A/C units, decks, hauling, real estate sales, we need help. We need help with your newsletter and detachment expenses. For $25.00 per year we will place a copy of your business card in the newsletter for 12 consecutive months. Got a neighbor who needs some inexpensive advertising?? They can also participate. Just send a check payable to MCL #1049 at 376 Wye Ct., Glen Burnie, MD 21061.
The VFW Post 160 has been very receptive to our being
a part of their family. If you meet the qualifications of being VFW
member, hopefully you would consider joining this very fine organization.
They certainly would be grateful. Also, you membership in the MCL, even if
you are not a VFW member allows you access to the social quarters.
However, you must sign the guest book and show your MCL card to the person
tending the bar. If you should bring a guest, they also must sign the
guest book. When you leave, your guest must also leave unless another VFW
or MCL member assumes the responsibility of his or her conduct. |
